In this privacy policy, we inform you about the personal data we collect in the «klarum.ch» app and on the associated website, what we use it for, and what rights you have. This privacy policy is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and the provisions of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), insofar as it is applicable.

  • Usage data & tracking: We collect information about how you use the app and website (e.g., pages visited, click behavior) in order to analyze and improve our services.
  • Device data: Automatically collected technical data such as your IP address, operating system, browser type and app version.
  • Communication: If you contact us by email, we will store this correspondence to process your request.

3. Purposes and legal bases of data processing

We use your data in accordance with the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) exclusively for the following purposes:

  • Contractual performance (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR): To provide you with the functions of «klarum.ch» and to manage your account.
  • Legitimate interest (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR): For troubleshooting, ensuring IT security and for sending system-relevant transactional emails.
  • Consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR): We obtain your explicit consent in advance for the use of analysis tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and the sending of marketing newsletters. You can revoke this consent at any time.

4. Cookies, web analytics and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies (e.g., local storage) on our website and in our app. These are small text files that are stored on your device.

  • Necessary cookies: These are essential for the basic functions of the website/app (e.g. login status).
  • Analytics cookies (only with consent): With your consent, we use the following services to analyze user behavior:

Google Analytics & Google Tag Manager

‍We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited (Ireland). We use Google Tag Manager to manage the tracking tools. Google Analytics uses cookies, which enable analysis of website usage. We have activated IP anonymization, so your IP address is shortened by Google within Switzerland or the EU before being transmitted. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. Google uses this information on our behalf to evaluate the use of the app/website.

5. Email distribution and newsletters

We use specialized service providers to communicate with you:

  • Transactional emails (SendGrid): For sending system-relevant emails (e.g., registration confirmation, password reset), we use the SendGrid service, operated by Twilio Inc. (USA). For this purpose, your email address will be transmitted to SendGrid.
  • Newsletter (Mailchimp): If you explicitly subscribe to our newsletter, we will use Mailchimp, operated by Intuit Inc. (USA), to send you marketing emails. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time via the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email.

6. Data transfer and hosting (third parties)

We do not sell your data. In addition to the tools mentioned above (Google, SendGrid, Mailchimp), we use the following external service providers as part of order processing:

  • Hosting: Data is stored via Amazon Web Services (AWS) on servers in Frankfurt am Main, Germany (EU).
  • App Stores: When you download the app, Apple or Google collect their own data. We have no control over this.
  • Data transfer to third countries: Since some of our service providers (Google, Twilio/SendGrid, Intuit/Mailchimp, and our app development partner) are based in the USA, we ensure an adequate level of data protection in accordance with the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This is achieved through the certification of the providers under the Data Privacy Framework (DPF) and the conclusion of EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

7. Data security

We take appropriate technical and organizational security measures (e.g. SSL/TLS encryption) to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss or manipulation.

8. Retention period and account deletion

We only store your data for as long as it is necessary for the stated purposes or as required by law. You can delete your user account at any time directly in the app under [specify path, e.g., Settings > Delete account] or by sending an email to info@klarum.ch . After deletion, your data will be permanently deleted or anonymized.

9. Your rights under the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Information & Correction: You can request information about your data and have incorrect data corrected.
  • Deletion (“right to be forgotten”): You can request the deletion of your data.
  • Restriction & Data Portability: You can request the restriction of processing and receive your data in a commonly used format.
  • Revocation & Objection: You can revoke your consent (e.g. for cookies or newsletters) or object to the processing at any time.
